Say YES to healthy FATs

Organic food, Friendly fats

All the fat in the world is not bad. Some fats are our friends. Research proves that fat can be beneficial for us. In fact, some kinds of fat may even help us lose weight. Monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats are the healthiest. These reduce cholesterol and help stabilize blood sugar and insulin levels. They are anti-inflammatory and are replete with healthy vitamins and nutrients that add to a person’s health. These reduce the risk of heart diseases and type II diabetes.

Say yes

You must say yes to monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, or unsaturated fats. They are the way to go. Dark Chocolate, Avocado, Nuts, Chia seeds, Basil seeds, Flax seeds, Pink Wild Salomon, Tuna, Cream, and milk, Nut butter, Whole egg, Cheese, Duck, Bacon, Coconut, Grass-fed mutton and beef, Canola oil, Olive oil, Yogurt, etc. are the healthy fats. These foods help to lower cholesterol levels in the body and may decrease your risk of heart disease and other serious illnesses. Healthy oils are liquid at room temperature and come from grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds.

No, never

They are tempting but learn to say “NO” to, Saturated fats and trans fats. Both these fats remain semi-solid at room temperature. For example, Meat and certain dairy products are high in saturated fats. Trans fats are created from vegetable oils exposed to a chemical process called hydrogenation. Both of these fats (saturated and trans fats) raise our LDL cholesterol blood levels. A higher level of LDL can be very risky for the health of our heart. These risks are heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and other health problems. So, let us say no to foods containing saturated fats and trans fats. These include processed foods made with hydrogenated oils, butter, milk fat, meat fat, cream, lard, and baked foods made using saturated fat or trans-fat.

Fat does not mean white solids only. Alcohol contains 7 calories per gram and fat has 9 calories per gram. Stay away from:

  • Baked food like cakes, cookies, and pies
  • Microwave Popcorn
  • Refrigerated dough meant for biscuits etc.
  • Frozen pizza
  • Fried foods
  • French fries and fried chicken
  • Non-dairy creamer
  • Saturated fats
  • Hydrogenated fats
  • Trans fats

You can be strong and healthy

It’s not difficult to eat and live healthily. You don’t need strong willpower to choose the right kind of food and avoid unhealthy food. Home food is great and healthy. Processed food is easy but unhealthy. Fruit juice is good for health and carbonated drinks are bad for health. So there is good food and bad food, good beverages and bad ones. Many people still eat and drink unhealthy foods. Then the time comes when our body starts to ring alarm bells and gives warning signs! We stop enjoying our life and run to doctors and depend on medicines. we must have control over what we eat and drink. Fats make food tasty but there are healthy fats and unhealthy fats. fats are of three kinds: 1. saturated fats, 2. Trans fats and 3. Unsaturated or monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats. We should train our children to avoid eating foods prepared with saturated, trans fat.

Live organic life

Organic food is the best for all living beings. Animals that eat grass taste better when we eat their meat. Veggies grown in our home backyard without use of inorganic fertilizers taste yummy and they are great for health. We can, thus easily say yes to monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, or unsaturated fats derived from these sources.
